Steve Lance, co-author of The Little Blue Book of Advertising, The Little Blue Book of Marketing, and Breakthrough! will talk about the new English language and its impact on marketing and branding.
Lance, whose career as an advertising creative director, writer and author spans three decades, has seen a profound shift in the ways marketers must change to communicate and connect with the new digital citizens. It’s a new world of emoticons, emojis, texting, abbreviations and dependence on software to catch and correct misspellings. Lance calls it “Post-Modern English.” Senior marketing and management executives grew up reading and writing Modern English, making it difficult to read — much less approve — Post-Modern communications.
What does it all mean? Businesses are in one of three positions. They’re either disrupting or they’re evolving or they’re dead companies walking. Is that harsh? Yes. And it’s also the new reality. And the sooner you understand it, the sooner you have the chance of being a survivor.
What you will learn:
• Understanding the shift to Post-Modern English
• The impact of Post-Modern Communications on marketing
• How to evolve to using Post-Modern English
